Christmas Break

I decided I should do a blog now, before I have to do yet another marathon blog like before. Josh had his surgery on Tuesday and is recovering great. He is on light meds and up and about the house. He is limited to how much he can do due to his arm being in a sling, but so far, all is going well.
We have been staying busy with baking, errands, last day of school before break, etc.
Tomorrow is Caleb's second birthday and we cannot believe he is already almost 2! Time sure is flying by! Ill be sure to post more on that tomorrow!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far!!!

Surgery Update

Yesterday morning, Josh and I left bright and early to head to the hospital. He had shoulder repair surgery. It ended up going well and the dr was pleased with the outcome. He needs to be in a sling for one month, and then start physical therapy. Thanks to everyone that sent prayers our way. He is on heavy meds and basically just sleeping the day away, which is the best thing for him right now. What a trooper he is and I am so grateful that the surgery is over, and he is on the mend!!

A HUGE thanks to my parents for all their help. They came over early yesterday to stay here and watch the kids so we could go to the hospital. We got home and they had everything taken care of, made lunch for everyone, helped me run the kids to school, got dinner for everyone, and helped the kids get bathed at night, etc. It was a chaotic day and with Josh being heavily medicated, it was awesome to have the extra help. Best parents ever, we are Blessed to have you guys so close.

Nathans last day of school before winter break is today, Lindseys is tomorrow, and then everyone is off, including Josh, until January 2!

Busy busy times ahead so Ill try to pop on here and blog, but cant guarantee anything : )

Before surgery, I am sure once he wakes up, he'll kill me for posting this pic, but  I think its cute!

Longest Blog Ever

I know I have said this before, but this time I really mean it, I have so many pics, this is sure to go down as my longest blog post ever haha!!!

Friday:

In the morning, Nathan went to school since he had all day school. Lindsey, Caleb and I went to a playdate that morning and the kids made Christmas tree ornaments. It was quite fun and it was a low key kind of day only having the two kids. That evening, Lindsey had her Christmas production at school, Grammy and Pop Pop came to watch her and we all had a fun evening. She ended up sleeping over at their house that night and had a blast.

Saturday:

We loaded the kids up in the morning and went to go to Grammy and Pop Pops house to change out kids. We took Nathan and Lindsey to Leavenworth, a small Christmas village about two hours away, while Caleb stayed with Grammy/Pop Pop. Caleb had a blast having one on one time, and we all had a great time enjoying the snow/sledding/German town/Christmas lights, etc. It was so much fun seeing all the snow and having the kids play in it. We havent had any snow yet this year, so the kids were playing in it like crazy!!! That night, Nathan spent the night at Grammys house and we took Caleb and Lindsey back home.

Sunday:

We got Nathan back from Grammy and Pop Pops house and ran a TON of errands. We were trying to get all caught up since Tuesday is Josh's surgery and we didnt want to have last minute stuff hanging over our heads. It was a great, productive day for sure!!

Monday:

Well, the power went off at 5:30am as I was blow drying my hair. It didnt come back on until about 8:30, so it made for a crazy start to the day. I am doing laundry and cleaning today, as well as handing out cookie trays to friends, overall, its once again, a productive day. I hope to be able to blog in a few days, but with Josh having surgery tomorrow, I may take a little break!!

Christmas Tree Cookie Playdate

Yesterday, before the kids had school we headed over to a friends house for a fun playdate. She made yummy sugar cookies so the kids could stack them like a Christmas tree and decorate them. The kids and I had a great time and the cookies were a yummy treat last night after dinner!!! Its always fun to see my mama friends and have the friends play with all their buddies, : )

After our playdate, we ran home to eat some lunch before heading off to school. When we were home, my Secret Santa dropped off my present and it was really sweet. She got me a new trifle bowl filled with mini ornaments and a candle. It was so cute and thoughtful. I originally met her because I was making a trifle for a new recipe and realized I didnt have a trifle bowl. I had put a post out to the moms group I am in and she responded letting me borrow hers. After I borrowed it, I realized I love trifles and now, I have a trifle bowl of my own. So sweet!! : )

After the kids headed to school, my neighbor dropped by to bring over a yummy cookie to taste test. It was delicious and as soon as I finished that, he brought over a plate of more cookies. They were all delicious and it was a yummy treat!! Gotta love sweet neighbors!!

Fast Food Surprise/ Pop Pop Visit

Yesterdays blog forgot to cover an incident that happened over the weekend that was pretty neat. On Saturday evening, I was super duper lazy and did NOT want to cook dinner. Can you believe it? A Cookin Chick that doesnt want to cook, crazy I know, : )
Anyhow, I sent Josh up to a fast food joint up the road to grab some dinner. He called me about ten minutes later to tell me what had happened.
Apparently, Josh pulled into the parking lot the same time another car did. Josh was to be the first car to go into the drive through. The car that was next to him decided to cut Josh off to get in line first. Josh was annoyed but didnt really care. Josh placed his order and pulled up to the window to pay. The cashier told Josh that the car ahead of him had felt bad about cutting Josh off in line, that he paid for our dinner. Josh was shocked because although it had annoyed him slightly, he had moved on and didnt think twice about it.
Isnt that neat? It just goes to show you that as messed up as this world is getting, there are still people that care about others!!

On a different topic, Pop Pop joined us for dinner last night!! Grammy had come over during the day to bring Josh his most favorite cookies that she had made, peanut butter blossoms. Yes, she drove 30 minutes to drop them off for him, he is quite spoiled I know. Anyhow, she said that she was going out to dinner with a friend and wouldnt be home for dinner. Pop Pop was going to have to fend for himself until she and I thought, why not have him come over here for dinner instead? He ended up heading straight over here from work instead of home and we all enjoyed a yummy dinner. The kids were over to moon excited and had a blast seeing Pop Pop. Definitely made the night for them!! Best Gramps ever huh?? : )

Back to Monday

I havent had too many things to blog about lately. We are staying busy as usual, but I havent been on top of my picture taking skills, hence, no really great things to blog.

Friday, we went over to a friends house and the kids were able to make snow globes. It was a relaxing, fun weekend and the kids had a great time.

Saturday and Sunday were relaxing days, we ran errands, watched football, ate chili, etc. Nathan went over to Grammys house on Saturday evening to make fudge. He had a great time and it was the second year in a row that the two of them have done that. It was neat and as the official taste tester of the fudge, it was amazing!!!

This week is busy filled with errands, playdates, school, Lindseys Christmas concert, etc. I am sure I will have more exciting things to blog about in the next few days, but until then....sorry haha!!

Happy Monday!

Lights at the Lodge

Last night, Josh and I took the kids to the "Lights at the Lodge" event in town. Its at the local park, which is our hangout in the summertime. The town lights up all the trees and has a "train" that is all lit up and gives rides to families/kids. There are crafts inside, yummy treats, and a lit up firetruck. Although it was cold, the weather was pretty decent. The kids had a blast. I rode the train with the kids and the whole time Caleb was screaming "choo choo" hehe! The kids got to go through the fire truck as well and overall, it was a great night. It was crazy busy with people, so we ended up not being able to meet up with my friend, but Josh, the kids, and I loved it and are totally loving Christmas season!!!

The boys waiting for the train.....that is rain on Joshs jacket, for some reason it looks like terrible dandruff HAHAHAHAHAHA

The train coming around!!

Our turn!! If only Lindsey had looked it would have been the perfect pic
